Oxford, Here I Am

While traveling to new places does excite me, going to my favorite city is just as fun. I was last in Oxford a couple of years ago, and it's fair to say I had forgotten a lot of it. However, I have been here for almost two weeks now and am enjoying it to the fullest. Being surrounded by the studious and historic atmosphere truly motivates me to work. I landed on the 12th of June, and it was quite unfortunate that during the first week I spent here with my brother, the weather wasn't treating us well at all. But now that the sun is out, you already know the guns are out too ;)

All jokes aside, this city is beautiful, especially when it is warm outside. I don't necessarily have a plan during my stay here apart from spending quality time with my brother and preparing for university. Speaking of education, the colleges here are incredible. I hope all the students here really know how lucky they are and live their lives to the fullest while they can. To be honest, no other university buildings can compare to Oxford's. Of course I don't doubt that you didn't know it already. The very famous Bodleian Library didn't fail to impress both the world and myself.

Falling in Love with Oxford

Anyway, I do believe that this city is perfect for me. There are so many nice places, from the people and the food to the architecture of each building. My enthusiasm has not changed and continues to increase the more time I spend here. I don't really know if it's the placebo effect—the buildings making me feel more sophisticated—or the young men who look exactly like Hugh Grant in his prime. So far, I have spent a lot of time in the city centre, at coffee shops, and eating lovely dishes at the covered market. I am getting used to my lifestyle here and secretly hope it never comes to an end. Actually, that isn't much of a secret...

Places I Have Visited So Far

  • The Covered Market
  • Westgate
  • Pubs, restaurants, and coffee shops on Queen's Lane, city center, and Cowley Road
  • University Parks, colleges, churches, and castles
  • Summertown

As you can tell, I have been to almost every corner of Oxford, which is why now comes the list of activities I want to do next.

To-Do Next

  • Salsa class
  • Ice skating and punting
  • Go to the Natural History and Science Museum
  • Visit nearby cities (e.g., London)
  • Make new friends

There will always be something to do; that is a given. The one I am most eager to accomplish, for now, is the salsa class. I used to be very open to dancing when I was younger, but I haven't in over five years. I am quite nervous, however, I do know it will be interesting. Other than that, this is my way of summing up what I have been up to the past few days and what I am planning on doing next. Hope you enjoyed the read, and have a lovely week.

See you soon!
