I have been in Oxford for the past three weeks. I am now used to the city, buses, and people. I have memorised all the places and am quite content with my life here. It is a mixture of holiday and preparation. The stress of university is slowly getting to me, but I am glad because it shows growth. It requires a big step to move from the nest to flying on your own over unknown territories. Although there is still a lot of time before I have to start living on my own, I am eager to begin a new chapter in my life and formally say goodbye to high school and childhood.
Results Day
Just yesterday, my IB results came out. We had originally planned the day to celebrate no matter what the outcome. We would get ready, head to London, go sightseeing, meet my brother's friends for bowling, and have dinner at Nobu. We did end up doing all of that except sightseeing because we took a later train. My heart was beating very fast as we were on our way to the Oxford train station. We decided to stop by the street after having eaten our lunch. My brother gave me a look signifying it was time to reveal the truth. I logged in. I was nervous to see the result. Were the two years I spent getting this diploma wasted? What would I do if I failed?
So many questions within a couple of milliseconds. I went straight down the website to my total points. The exams made me feel so insecure that I was expecting the worst. However, I was pleasantly surprised. As my brother and I were hugging and joyfully laughing, strangers stared, even a young man came and asked what we were celebrating. Filled with emotions, I didn't know how else to release my excitement: in tears or in laughter. We were delighted. It was only right to finally make our way to our train. The day was truly memorable.
A New Chapter Begins
This didn't just mean that I had passed, but also that I had secured my place at the University of Amsterdam. It was clear now. So, we continued to plan the dates, and now all there is to do is wait until the time comes for my move. The stress and feeling of something missing were gone. I feel whole and more confident. It is time to live up to this accomplishment. Thank you for reading, I hope you liked the blog, have a nice week!
See you soon!
